After hearing one of HUG’s presentations regarding situation with radiotherapy in Ukraine with the call for action, Ross Koscharsky, Global Director of ICON Cancer Center at ICON Group responded with the offer to train 2 Ukrainian medical physicists in Australia. A partnership has been born. Natalka Suchowerska, a HUG member and Australia native, together with Aland Trent from ICON worked on organizing the trip and welcoming Ukrainian visitors to Australia. Nadiia Honcharenko and Anna Fedorova have successfully completed the observership at Sydney and Brisbane. Since returning to the Ukraine, the Australian team continues to be in touch with Anna and Nadiia and is hopeful to provide ongoing assistance and access to their remote training, quality assurance work and assist with technology implementation to uplift Ukraine’s capabilities and enable them to rebuild once the conflict subsides.
