Stanford welcomes two Ukrainian medical oncologists for a month-long observership

It’s a true pleasure for Help Ukraine Group to welcome two medical oncologists from Ukraine: Dr. Andrii Hrynkiv from Lviv Regional Cancer Center and Dr. Kateryna Cherchenko from the National Cancer Institute in Kyiv.

Drs. Hrynkiv and Cherchenko attended ASCO GI 2004 meeting in San Francisco and started a month-long observership at Stanford University medical oncology department. HUG is grateful to the Stanford Global Scholars grant and ASCO leadership, especially Doug Pyle, for making this possible. Help Ukraine Group also appreciates the efforts of the whole Stanford Medical Oncology team, especially Dr. Tyler Johnson, for organizing and providing the training.

Including Dr. Hrynkiv and Cherchenko, Help Ukraine Group has already arranged and funded observerships for 24 Ukrainian doctors and medical physicists in USA and Australia. Stanford School of Medicine Radiation Oncology, Medical Oncology, Bone Marrow Transplant, Pediatric Oncology, Cardiac and Lung Transplant departments have already trained 19 Ukrainian medical professionals since the beginning of the full-scale russian invasion of Ukraine.

HUG is grateful to Dr. Andriy Beznosenko for initiating this project!
